Emergency Dental Care is something that many people don’t always have on their minds.  But when a person really needs dental attention, they may not always know where to look! Or if their dental provider is even available for dental emergencies! At Major Dental Clinics, we are available for all dental emergencies at our Chicago and Milwaukee offices.  But the biggest question that some patients may face when needing emergency dental care is. What qualifies as a dental emergency? Below are some examples of when you should seek Emergency Dental Care:

Tooth Aches

This is probably the best example of when some patients may ignore the pain, in their tooth with the hopes of the pain going away by itself.  However, toothaches could be a sign of something much more severe. Ignoring the pain could make the issue much worse. Explaining the pain and the symptoms of your toothache to your dentist is the best way to determine if you are in need of urgent care.

Foreign Object Stuck Between Teeth

It’s never any fun getting something stuck between your teeth. Especially if you’ve tried every method possible to get whatever is stuck out of your teeth.  If an object is stuck for too long and causes any other symptoms, an infection could occur and your health could be at risk.

Broken, Cracked, Chipped Teeth

It goes without saying, if any of these occur on a tooth or several teeth, emergency dental care would definitely be required! Even in situations of teeth being knocked out, urgent dental care is necessary.  If any of these occur, a cold compress on the affected area could soothe some of the pain, and contact your dentist immediately about the next step to do for your dental care.

Broken Jaw

This is a serious dental emergency and you should contact your dentist immediately or head to your nearest emergency care center.  Applying a cold compress to the affected jaw area on your face could help ease the pain. Although, emergency care would be required. There are many other occasions in which emergency dental care might be needed. Such as broken braces, a loose crown, or even a bitten lip or tongue! All of these can be addressed with your dentist. They can best determine the severity and urgency of your emergency dental care.

If you are currently experiencing any of the above, call Major Dental Clinics today so we can help you with your Emergency Dental Care and get you back on track to feeling pain-free! Call us today!
